The Classes

Two to begin with. A few more taking shape.

We're starting with the two classes we do best, then opening more rooms as summer fills in. Small groups, afternoons, one teacher who learns your kid's name by the second day.

Music, at the piano

We start at the keyboard: where the notes sit, how a tune gets built, until the afternoon a kid plays a whole piece start to finish and won't stop grinning. Beginners welcome. No lessons needed first.

Art, drawing & painting

Pencils, brushes, clay-soft pastels, real paper. Kids learn to look closely and then make the thing. We keep the mess on the table and let the ideas run.

Inside the studio at 141 Montague Street, with brownstone afternoon light

The Studio

One room on Montague Street, set up for making things. Afternoon light off the brownstones, a piano in the corner, a long table for paint.

Brooklyn Heights is front stoops and quiet side streets, and Montague is the spine of it. We wanted the studio to feel like part of that. You can walk over after pickup, leave your kid with people who really pay attention, and come back to find them showing off what they made.

Small rooms. Small groups. Nobody's rushing anyone.

From the team behind Gifted and Talented Kids in Greenpoint. Same people, same care, a new room on Montague.
How it works

Three steps, then we see you on Montague.

Step one

Pick a class

Start with piano or art. Tell us if your child has done it before or is picking up a brush for the first time. Both are fine here.

Step two

Choose an afternoon

Slots are grouped by age, younger kids earlier and older kids later. Pick the afternoon that fits your week.

Step three

Reserve a spot

Send your details and a real person from the studio will get back to you to confirm the place and answer anything.

Both piano and art run across the age groups. These are sample groupings, not the only options. We set the right afternoon with you when you reserve.

Our spirit

Every child is gifted. Summer is for finding out where.

One kid hears it in a melody. Another notices the way afternoon light falls across a wall. We hand them the tools and then get out of the way.

They make real things

Every kid leaves with something they built and can talk about. A first song. A painting that's actually finished. Something small they're proud of.

Different minds welcome

Kids learn in their own way. Some through the hands, some the ears, some the eyes. We teach to all of it, so the kid who hates worksheets still finds a way in.

Kept small on purpose

Groups stay small. When a teacher knows your kid, she notices the moment it clicks and runs with it.
